Davidson update!

Since I like reading everyone else’s posts so much..I thought I better give you guys something new to read too!

Let’s see. Well we are enjoying life here in Boise. We are planning to go to Burley this week to spend time with Jason’s parents and then down to Utah for the weekend to see Jason’s sister and her family, and also Jamie and my mom who is flying out for the weekend. It should be fun!

I took a class on couponing on Thursday and am very excited to start! I’ve already started collecting…so we’ll see how much money I can save! :)

Ethan has finally learned how to pull himself up a couple weeks ago. The first week or so he would pull himself up in his crib and get stuck. He couldn’t figure out how to get down! So he would cry until someone would come lay him down so he could go to sleep. Luckily he’s figured it out now! His new hobby is to throw out all the toys I put in his crib for him. He learned how to reach behind him in the shopping cart and grab anything he can reach and toss it out. Lovely, lemme tell ya.

He also has learned how to walk around holding onto the couch or coffee table with one hand. We’ll see how long it takes before he is cruising!

We took Ethan to his one-year check up and he is in the 80% for weight and 25% for height. Big boy still!

We <3 him!

Oh he climbed up 3 steps by himself!

Ethan carried stuff in his mouth like this sometime. I think he gets it from Dunder.

All about Ethan!

In light of Ethans FIRST birthday yesterday, I decided to do a post all about Ethan! He is a wonderful little boy, so I'm going to take a few minutes to brag...

But first of all..all about his birthday!

-Ethan woke up

-We made a big breakfast

-Ethan took a bath and went down for a lil nap

-Once he woke up we went to the mall and I "built" him a soccer bear at Build-a-Bear

-We then went to Texas Roadhouse where Ethan ate a yummy meal of rolls, grilled cheese, baked beans (he loved them the most!) and lemonade

-We came home and opened presents

Dunder enjoying the festivities

Ethan eating the wrapping paper..yummm

-We spent time putting together his presents and playing with all of them

-Cake time! Jason was really set on Ethan "digging in" to the cake and getting messy. But Ethan thought the idea was a little strange and so he was a little unsure. So Jason decided to help him "play" in the cake.

I think it is safe to say Ethan had a great birthday! By the end of the day he was super tired! A long day of birthday fun!

And now... My list of facts and reasons why Ethan is the greatest!

-He has always been a great baby. I can probably count on one hand the number of times I heard him really cry as a baby.

-He loves to eat! He nursed every 2 hours until I stopped at 9.5 months and loved solid foods right from the very beginning. He has been eating table foods non-stop since about 9 months and just loves to eat. Can you tell? :)

-He will sit and play with toys all day. He just wants to know you havent forgotten about him.

-His first word is Dunder, or who he calls "Duh". I always joked with Jason that his first word would be Dunder, but I wasnt serious. However, now everytime dunder jumps up and he spots her he says "Duh". It's funny. He chases her all over the house. Perhaps he needs a sibling..haha

-Ethan loves to tear things. Esp baby wipes. He will tear a peice off, and give me the bigger piece. He will proceed to tear the piece he has until it is too small and falls. It's pretty funny.

-I put some toys in Ethan crib about a month ago..now when he wakes up he plays with his toys until we come in and get him. Occasionally he will give a little shout just to let us know he's awake and we can come and get him anytime. But playing, on his own, till 9:30ish in the morning? Can a baby get any better than that?

-Ethan doesn't crawl in the way most babies do..he army crawls. He always has..and probably always will.

-Ethan's favorite book is an oversized Baby Einstein book "Old MacDonalds Farm". We usually read it every night.

-Ethan eats mandarin oranges like they are candy

-Ethan makes the cutest noises all the time. He is very vocal and always makes little noises as he crawls around.

Finally..the cruise!

So who is the biggest slacker around when it comes to updating? Oh yeah..me! I finally have posted all our pics from our trip..they are the next 5 or so posts...so enjoy!

Jason and I went on our cruise..and it was amazing! We were able to see so many new places...some of which we never thought we would be able to see in our lifetime.

We flew into Barcelona Friday morning and spent Friday and Saturday exploring Spain. We got tickets on the on-again off-again bus and did the whole long circle of the city. We stopped at Gaudi’s unfinished church which was amazing. There is so much detail in it that pictures definitely cannot do it justice.

Saturday night we were able to get tickets to the FC Barcelona vs Numancia soccer game and it was really fun! Jason was thrilled to be able to go to a European soccer game once again.

On sunday we were able to go to a Picasso museum (so neat!) and then take a tram up a mountain up to a castle. The view was amazing!

The buildings in Barcelona are so pretty! They were probably my favorite out of all the places we went. Every window has a railing or a gate in front of it.

Sunday we got on the ship and wandered around and explored. We went out to dinner with Jason’s parents and brother and sister in law and just relaxed.

Rome, Italy

Tuesday we were in Rome! It was wonderful (probably my favorite port) because it was Jason’s first time back in Rome since his mission. We rented a car and drove to a city outside on Rome where Jason spent a good many months living and saw the church and his old apartment. Then we drove into Rome and spent the day sightseeing from the car, shopping and eating some great Italian pizza and the best gelato in Rome (according to Jason). It was rainy out which was a bummer, but it didn’t matter to us too much since we had a car. I was so grateful that I was able to go a couple years ago with my aunt and see all the tourist things so I could just enjoy doing what Jason wanted to do without feeling like I missed out on seeing the Coliseum or the Trevi fountain. We spent the day with Jason’s parents which was really nice. They had been there when they picked up Jason from his mission so they enjoyed seeing Roma again too!

Greece!

Our third port was Athens, Greece. First we went to the stadium where the first modern Olympics was held in 1895. Then we went on the walk/hike up to the Pantheon. They view from up there was amazing! The buildings in Greece were just what I pictured. Light colored with the sea in the background. Next we took a bus ride along the coast of Greece to the temple of Poseidon. It was really pretty and set up on a hill with the ocean surrounding it on three sides. I would love to go back to Greece someday and spend some more time there. Maybe go out on one of the smaller islands and explore.
